Elyzabeth Meade
For multi-media artist Elyzabeth Meade, each project invites unique materials and creative approach. Her compositions for dance/theatre, video, and concert stage, as well as her own performance-works – incorporating movement, acoustic and electronic instruments, digital-audio, found-objects, classical and "extended-technique" voice, sculpture, and poetry – have been premiered with contemporary music ensembles and theatre/dance companies in New York, California, Massachusetts, Oregon, Canada, and Europe.
She has received numerous prizes, commissions, residencies from institutions, performing ensembles, and dance companies. In her on-going STORE-FRONT WINDOW PROJECT, Meade creates performances that are in dialogue with a current art exhibit or store theme.
She has engaged in improvisation as a musician (Classical and Jazz), dancer, and actor for most of her professional life, founding several improvisational ensembles such as L.I.E.NS, Friday Night Cambridge Improvs, SLC Core, 100th Monkey and others.
