Sara Kinsey
Art Teacher
Patchogue Medford School District
I am an artist and educator and have taught Visual Arts in Long Island public schools for the past 16 years. I graduated with a Master of Arts in Teaching from Rhode Island School of Design. Prior to that, I graduated with a B.A. from Smith College in Massachusetts where I majored in Studio Art and minored in English Language and Literature. I have studied—and practiced—studio art with a variety of media. These include drawing, painting (oil, acrylic, watercolor, and gauche), printmaking (linocut, stone lithography, intaglio, and woodcut), ceramic hand building and wheel throwing, and photography. Through several years of teaching students about the diversity of creative media I have learned why the role of art education does not stop at the classroom door. I feel that, in an increasingly connected and stimulating world, fluency in art and design will empower students to be more confident and expressive.
